Do You Know a Courageous Woman?

I do.

Lots of them. Several of them, like Carolyn,  piled into kayaks with me on a sunny afternoon last fall, even when they were uncomfortable around water. Others honor me with their stories every day in my counseling and coaching practice.

Among my all time favorites are my mom, Shelby, and both of my grandmothers, Edna Mae and Nettie Lucille. (My dad’s a treasure too – but that’s for another post. :)) Each of them had to overcome severe hardships to take care of their families and themselves. I expect you’ll be hearing about them often along the way.

And right here at home, I so love and admire my daughter Maiah, who faces the world daily with courage and grace. It’s never been easy being 17. Still isn’t. But somehow she manages, and I am very proud of the young woman she’s becoming.

How about you?

Is there a courageous woman in your life? Tell us about her.

What’s her name?

What does she do, or what has she done that you love so much?

What have you learned from her that you can share with the rest of us?

I’ve still got a few spots for my Mother-Daughter Secret Adventure this Saturday. I’m meeting amazing women every month on these trips. Mind you – they don’t know they’re amazing – but I do. I see it in their faces, hear it in their voices…

I think little girls must pop into the world with a fierceness in their bones. Somewhere along the way we forget that – but it shows back up when we share our stories. And we all have them.

Help us grow our Courageous Community.
