ONE IDEA
Has anyone ever told you to ‘get your head out of the clouds’, or to be sensible or realistic?
We all know what they mean when they say things like that. They mean we’re being silly, that we’re a dreamer.
And that, of course, “everyone knows” dreams don’t come true.
Well if you’re like most of the people I work with, you already know that’s baloney, because you’ve already made things happen in your life. You’ve already done things that you yourself were a little surprised by. And if you did all that – then you know you can do even more.
Truth is, you know, deep down, you can do anything you put your mind to.
And I know it too. :)
ONE THING to TRY
Do this.
1. Grab a piece of notebook paper or a legal pad.
2. Across the top, write “My Big 100” in big, bold letters.
3. Next, number the lines down the side, from 1-100.
Now, on each line, write one thing you’ve done in your life that you have ever been recognized for, was proud of, felt good about, or managed to do in spite of everything.
Capture all of it.
Winning the Spelling Bee in 2nd grade? That counts.
The job you got right out of college? That counts.
Teaching your teenager to drive on the interstate? That counts.
Getting your first client (and your second)? That counts.
Everything counts.
It may take you a few days to complete the list, but you can complete the list. Then send me a note and tell me what you’ve learned from this.
