5 Keys to a Better Online Profile

Hey!

You started a private practice so that you could help people the way you know they need help. Right? But if the folks who need you can’t find you, they’re missing out on the good that you can do.

That’s why this month we’re taking a closer look at marketing - NOT your favorite thing. I know! But if I can help you connect with your potential clients in a way that works better, that’s a good thing, right?

So, as always, here is one video mini-training, one quote, one idea, and one thing you might want to try: that is, your 11:11 for today.

ONE VIDEO.

Done well, your online profiles in social media platforms, or in professional directories like PsychologyToday.com, provide a powerful way to connect with ideal clients who might want to work with you.

But if you're not careful, you could also turn them off. :(

Follow the 5 quick tips I’m sharing today to build a profile that makes the right kind of impression on the people who matter most - your future clients.

ONE QUOTE.

You only get one chance to make a good first impression,
and yours may be in the hands of the receptionist.

- Harvey Mackay

ONE IDEA.

So here’s the thing.

Your online profile is your receptionist. Your calling card. Your handshake. Your introduction.

With it, you have about 2 seconds to make the right impression with a potential client, a potential paying customer, and that’s it.

In those two seconds, they will do one of two things.

  1. Come closer.
  2. Move on.

Which will it be?

Taking the time to get your copy right, to find the words that nail down who you are and what you offer, is time well spent. Writing copy, when done well, can take time, effort, and a lot of re-writes….  But when it works, it works.

Here are 5 questions to get you started.
  • Who are you as a human being?
  • Why should I trust that you ‘get’ me?
  • How can you actually help me?
  • What do you do that’s like no other?
  • And why should I choose you over the 100s that are right there beside you on my screen?

If you and I were meeting for lunch, and I asked you those questions, could you answer them?

ONE THING to TRY.

Pull out your journal. Write down the 5 questions listed above, and start exploring your answers. Write, write some more. Set it aside.

Go back the next day and read what you wrote.

Then write some more.

Keep writing until you are crystal clear about who you are, what you do, and how you help - in a way that is quintessentially YOU, no one else.

Then, for extra credit, take those words and make sure you’re using them in your online profiles. If you’re not, you know what to do.

You’re welcome. :)
